Print4Profit, a fledgling book publisher, has released their most promising title to date, in one “Around the World in 40 X 2 Purposeful Days: A Dual Revolution” by Seymore Dunx. Dunx is not a well-known author at this time, but the publisher is certain that this is the book that will put his company on the map of evangelical literature. Says Harvey Wifflebock, VP in charge of marketing for P4P:
“It is well known that Evangelicals in the USA are looking for a meaning behind it all. Why do we go to church in the first place when there is a coffee bar just down the street with hoppin’ music? It’s because we want to find our real purpose. Make no mistake, this book is not endorsed by the leadership of Saddleback church, and we will pay any lawfully imposed royalties for the use of terms such as “Purpose” and “40″ but this is not a Purpose Driven title per se. Through the inspiration of Bruce Wilkinson’s books we have prayed that this book will be a success, and the author has utilized the philosophy behind Rick Warren’s teaching and practices. Combine the two and you have a real best-seller.”
It is not hard to contemplate such a book becoming a best seller, and the plot is compelling as well. A small team of missionaries sets out on a quest to evangelize the world in only forty days. To do so, they have scheduled two-day stops in various countries, to distribute Bibles and copies of the Purpose Driven Church in each place they visit. Since the Bible is not written in all of the languages where they will stop, they are praying that God would lead others to follow up with the new church before long. Then, they enter their private jet and race to their next destination. Mission commander, Lance Styles, recounts for us the first major change made in the mission:
Originally, this was meant to be a once-around, but when the P4P encountered some difficulties with Purpose Driven ministries, we decided that we would need to do something different than the standard 40-Days. It was around… oh… day 15 that we thought about following up and doing this again, and by day 20, the publishers agreed to fund the second rotation. Praise be to God!
If the first time around the globe was exciting, the second must have been incredible. The staff of P4P has been silent about this second leg of the trip, stating that they do want people to purchase the book for themselves to discover what happened. Since the draft copy that was forwarded by the publisher did not contain this second revolution, I am unable to comment on it at this time, but I am eager to read about the reception these short-short-term missionaries received on their second visit.
