During my hiatus, I received an e-mail from Jules, better known as Everyday Mommy. Jules has a freelance graphic design business, specializing in small business and blog design. I’ll let her tell you about this business, which goes by the name Everyday Design:

Everyday Design is my home-based, freelance graphic design business. I bring a degree in graphic design plus over twenty-five years of experience to your next design project. Most of my clients are small business owners, churches and blog authors.

The e-mail I received was a most gracious offer to design a new header image and avatar for my posts. Being a guy, I don’t accessorize or color coordinate well, and jeans are a staple of my wardrobe. This allows me to wear any shirt that Tina will let me leave the house in, and I’m good. My look hasn’t changed over the years, just my proportions. Well, the same is true for my blog.

I began with a table-driven three-column blog, complete with a coffee ring background. It was sweet, but I kept on reading about web standards and tables, and thought it best to go to something a bit more updated. I actually created a template with CSS once, though the very thought frightens me to no end today. So I moved over to WordPress and now do what most people do. I download a theme that is close to what I want and make minor changes.

I really don’t like calling an upgrade like this a minor change, as my banner is awesome! Jules got a few ideas from me on what I’m looking for and came up with this look. I have learned to trust Tina to dress me, and Jules has earned my trust when it comes to aesthetic aspects of my blog. So allow me to say from the bottom of my heart, thank you Jules! Both for creating this great look and for caring about my blog even when it was going pretty much nowhere. So check her site out and WHOA look at those affordable prices!

Next planned destination for this blog: somewhere. Hey, it’s better than nowhere!

Yeah, Jules is all around awesome with her designs and I’ve meant to write her and tell her she rocks but never got around to it.

  2. Dylan says:

Sweet banner and avatar! Love it!

  3. Great new look, Doug. Like what she’s done with the place. And as far as being scared of doing that stuff yourself? I hear ya, there. It’s why, so far, I’ll only use templates and dress’em up from there. Cool new look.

  4. Tim says:

Very Nice. I like it a lot.

  5. Michael says:

Sweet. Just what the place needed, a woman’s touch. :)

Now, about those socks you tossed on the floor…
