Exegesis: The ancient science of drawing out of the text its original meaning and intention. In Biblical studies, the necessary method to avoid inserting (eisegesis) foreign concepts or ideas that do not belong in the text and alter its original meaning.
Narsegesis: The preferred method of the Western 21st-century Evangelical Church. The methodology that leads to slavery to the whims of the “pastor’s” newest series about the Biblical text; which is ultimately about him, his unique life, his interesting stories, and his personal vision.
