WorldNetDaily: Bio-chip implant arrives for cashless transactions
When I first heard of this technology, I was unnerved by the mention of just such a device mentioned in the Left Behind series. In the books a microchip implanted on the right hand is mentioned, with a code tattooed over it. This is referred to as the Mark of the Beast and the acceptance of this mark can serve as a final choice made to seperate oneself forever from the grace of God, which has been a subject of conversation in my comments recently. By the way guys, I do appreciate your comments more than you realize!
The Bible is not specific as to exactly what form this mark would take, but a tattoo has long been the asumption. This form of body modification has been around for millenia and is permanent with very few exceptions. The microchip implant is a more recent modification to this theme, but makes perfect sense in this day of identity theft, etc. I'm not saying that this chip is evil or a precurser to the second coming, for nobody knows when that will be except for the Lord. It does raise my eyebrows, though.
When I first heard of this, I was a little taken aback, to be honest. If this is a component or an early version of a component of the Mark of the Beast, then I think of it as a very evil thing. Neither I nor my family will ever have such an implant for this very reason. It makes me uneasy that the people remaining on earth will one day need to be marked just to be able to buy or sell, even though I and my family will not have to suffer the Tribulation.
As I continued on my way home (I first heard of this on my car's radio via K-LOVE) my mood changed and it was almost like God was speaking to me, reminding me to be at peace about this. I won't have to see this first-hand, for one. Also, this is not some great surprise. The microchip is not foretold in the Bible, I want to stress this matter so nobody accuses me of adding anything to that blessed book. If used in conjunction with the Mark of the Beast, this is a powerful reminder that the pieces are in place for just such a glory as the rapture of His believers.
Also it needs to be crystal clear that no act or invention of man can speed up or slow the timing for the second coming of Jesus. The exact moment has been known to Him since before the world was formed and to think that there is anything we could do to alter His plan is a very bold thought, to say the very least. I'm taking this story as a reminder that He could come again at any moment. This has always been true, but a reminder to we of weak flesh is not a bad thing at all.
When you were young, your mother wanted you to wear clean underwear just in case you were injured. (maybe not, but go with me here) The key to this motherly command is preparedness. Just in case something happened, she didn't want your embarassment to be known to anybody. If the Lord could return and call you up at any moment, consider what actions you want to be taking when that time comes. Do you want to be caught in a compromising position, perhaps surfing the 'net to a website that He wouldn't approve of?
The Lord is forgiving beyond measure, but I'd just as soon be caught up while doing something a bit more worthwhile.
