Quick, Grab the Nearest Book!

I have seen this "mini-meme" around and never felt inclined to act upon it until TulipGirl told me to do so with her post by the same title as mine. The book is "Desiring God" by John Piper, which I'm studying now. I will cheat a little and share sentences 5 and 6 with you here.

We have a name for those who try to praise when they have no pleasure in the object. We call them hypocrites.

Follow the herd:
1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 23.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the sentence in your blog along with these instructions.

I've seen this meme before, but I so don't get the point.

Really? I'm finding it addictive. I'm compulsively checking page 23, sentence 5 of books lying around the house.

"Why, there are dozens of them," said Susan, throwing away the core of her first apple and picking up her second."
