Today's reading is found in 1 Kings 20:23-22:9 and 2 Chronicles 18:1-8.

God certainly had a plan for Ahab in that plains battle. That plan was to destroy the opposing army without mercy. Mercy was shown, though, and he was to take the punishment that God had in mind for Ben-Hadad. Ahab was also a man who allowed his wife to murder a man for his vineyard. I honestly don't understand the logic behind letting a man's son take the punishment for his deeds, but that was done.

Doug,

God laid out this punishment the 10 Commandments...
Exodus 20:4-6
4"Do not make idols of any kind, whether in the shape of birds or animals or fish. 5You must never worship or bow down to them, for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God who will not share your affection with any other god! I do not leave unpunished the sins of those who hate me, but I punish the children for the sins of their parents to the third and fourth generations. 6But I lavish my love on those who love me and obey my commands, even for a thousand generations."

Pretty straight forward why Ahab's sons received that punishment.

I routinely see these same punishments being passed down to my brothers and myself on some of the same things I see that my father did, my brothers repeat. I have the desire to break that repeating pattern and not bow down to any idols. I want my descendants to be part of the 1000 generations. The Lord is Good and has provided each of us the opportunity to REPENT and receive forgiveness.

In Dueteronomy 30:19-20, 19"Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, that you and your descendants might live! 20Choose to love the LORD your God and to obey him and commit yourself to him, for he is your life. Then you will live long in the land the LORD swore to give your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob."

Big Tent Revival put together a song that some say is anti abortion. That might be their intent, but I believe the LORD means something different... He wants us to make choices for HIM everytime. That we might live eternally with HIM.

Respectfully HIS,
Sam
