Website Resolutions
You know, I've had this same background on the site for 3+ years, dating back to my free host days. I have my resolution to repeat the Bible reading, no big surprise there. I have others in regard to my family and friends, especially ones that are unsaved and ones that I am unsure of this status. I also feel it's time to make a few website resolutions.
- I want to learn PHP/My SQL enough to be competent. I'd like my sidebars to be their own files and a PHP include file will keep everything straight.
- I want to make my site more attractive from a visual stance. This doesn't mean flash, java cursors or other needless stuff. It means (perhaps) a new background and color combination. It means a logo that is more professional in appearance. It means a more structured layout on my sidebars. It means a more user-friendly experience as a whole.
- I want to learn more about parsing RSS feeds on my site. I'm experimenting with this in a test page for my Daily Swirl and I'd like this to take more of a newspaper-like appearance. The comics should be mostly displayed on the main screen and the news items should have a short excerpt with a link to more. The weather should also be displayed. This is primarily a personal page, but I want it to be a valid one-stop-shop for anyone seeking news.
- The "About Me" page is hideous! That needs a complete overhaul!
I'm open to suggestions if you have any. As it looks now, I really have my work cut out for me. Happy New Year!
Update: How's this? This is the image I'm working on for my new logo on the blog. It won't replace the one I use on the newsletter, because that one fits the template there, and that template relies heavily on tables, rather than CSS positioning.
Here's a pic that I use to tell the world that I have been happy with my web host. I'm not getting any favors for doing this, but that's OK. Globalcon has been very good to me!
Here's the same image with the same alignment, but I added some space between the image and the text. (5 pixels to be exact)
