Welcome to my newsletter! I've pondered the idea of such a newsletter ever since I received a chronological Bible from my parents for Christmas a couple years ago. In the months that followed, I found myself going ahead...sometimes weeks ahead of schedule. To compensate for that, I would take a break for a week or so. So I was getting ahead/falling behind for months and read most of the Bible that year. Sadly, I derailed once too often and didn't finish. Also, it became almost a chore. I would read the passages for the specified days because that was the "assignment." Much of it didn't sink in as it should have because of this, but I didn't lose the desire to finish what I started. This is my way of keeping myself on track. And if I can keep you on track as well, so much the better. I send out a copy of the newsletter on a weekly basis. I also provide some commentary to try and make it all come together for you and for me. Remember the part about it not sinking in? This is my answer to that. Now, I do want you to know that I am not a theologian. I have never had any formal biblical schooling, but I did have a biblical upbringing and do read books that are about biblical matters as well. Most of the commentary will be my own, I imagine, but it doesn't have to be that way. I have friends and relatives that are well-schooled in biblical matters and many of the readers of this newsletter will also know more than I about such things. So this is my plea. If you would like to contribute to this newsletter, PLEASE let me know! All that I ask is that you be sincere and that your writing takes the Bible literally. Seems easy enough, right? Well there are some people who claim to take the Bible at it's word and yet believe in evolution-or perhaps that God "got the ball rolling." Perhaps he caused the so-called Big Bang... The Bible I read says that EVERYTHING was formed in the span of one week. Seven days was the difference between absolutely nothing and a perfectly formed world with plants, animals, people (who did walk upright, mind you), the sun and stars...you name it. With that in mind, let's get started, shall we? If you are not a subscriber, but would like to start your Bible reading at the beginning with the same weekly e-mail that I have sent this last year, you can subscribe to my seed list on the home page of my site: www.coffeeswirls.com.
